When I am trying to give a headband of intellct to my barbarian, it shows that i have selected it, but it does not show up.

You need to attune to it as well. Click one of the attuned spots and then it should show the headband as selectable.
For order you have to add it from Add Items -> click "USE" in Inventory -> Attune under "ATTUNE MAGIC ITEMS" in one of the three slots.
