I was looking at my characters and noticed that a Kobold character I'd put together as a backup in case my current character dies had become (Archived). It was not assigned to any campaign.
When I opened the Edit page it showed that the race, Kobold, was what was archived. Now the Kobold is just gone from the list of races I can choose from. It looks like Orc is also missing from the list.
We are in the process of archiving the pre-errata orcs and kobolds and releasing the post-errata swol kobolds and smort orcs. As such, some weirdness may occur as we try to do it in a way that won't cause any problems for anyone with pre-existing orc or kobold characters.
Rest assured that they will return, better than ever, shortly!

It seems Kobolds have gone missing again, around the beginning of December. I can find them in the list of races on the website but they're gone from VGtM and I can't pull them up in the app. Coming back I hope?

If I open up the book, kobold is missing from the character races chapter. I can only pull up kobold on the website by searching for it.
The playable Kobold species is found in two books: Volo's Guide to Monsters and Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse. Which one do you have?
The version from Volo's Guide to Monsters is now considered "legacy" content (having been replaced by the Monsters of the Multiverse version) so if you want to use that one, you'll need to make sure that the "Legacy" box is checked on the Home tab of the character builder.
Which “the right book” do you have? If it’s VGTM, you’ll need Legacy Content enabled for that character. If it’s MOTM, you’ll need Expanded Rules enabled instead.
Did you purchase the book yourself, or is your character assigned to a campaign where that book is shared with you?
I thought I had it, my character availability showed that book for me and showed fae as a playable race and another race I can't remember off the top of my head but not kobold, I double checked my library and I apparently didn't have that book. I have the 'Wild beyond Witchlight' and that's how I got the fae race but I still don't get why it showed a book I apparently didn't own as the source book for that race instead of the correct one.
I ended up buying the correct book though.

That explains the "Archived" Kobold I found on one of my players. I still decided to switch him to the new Kobolds. Thank you for this post!

Have you purchased VGTM or did you grab just the Kobold as a stand-alone from the book?
Can you double check in your "Account" section under "Marketplace" that VGTM or Kobold show up in the "Current Product Licenses" section?
I have the master collection of all books. I definitely have VGTM. I can view everything else in they book.
I did double check and yes it does appear in my licenses.
That's definitely odd. I'd try submitting a support ticket.

Did you ever fix this? My friend who has everything is trying to create a Kobold and they aren't showing up for him in the character creation options
If your friend is trying to make a legacy Kobold make sure that on the Races tab of the character creator they have selected "Show Legacy Content"
