New Core Rulebooks version question

The new core rulebooks are stated as being 5th addition. Does that mean that one dnd will be another set of core rulebooks? or are these new core rulebooks a part of the beginning pf oneDND?

One D&D is not a thing and has been for some time. And when it was a thing, it wasn't the thing you think it is/was.

One D&D was the codename for three things:

1. The D&D 3d VTT
2. The integration of D&D Beyond into Wizards of the Coast
3. The playtest for the updated core rulebooks for D&D fifth edition

The 2024 core rulebooks are the end result of point 3 above; new and updated core rulebooks for D&D fifth edition
