Is there a technical reason for this? A lot of 2014 subclasses that use the old progression are available as legacy subclasses even for 2024 characters, and the only reason I can see for it is that the books were written with reference to the 2014 progression, which is fine but that doesn't stop books like Xanathar's from being available for 2024 characters. It's also a bit misleading when the store page says "While Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass is compatible with the 2024 Core Rulebooks, specific subclass options are limited to 2014 character classes on D&D Beyond." While it should be a red flag that it doesn't say which ones aren't compatible, the answer is (as is included further down in the fine print of the marketplace page) "Note: Subclass options found in Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass are only available for 2014 classes in the Character Builder on D&D Beyond." And of course in the release thread, it's stated "At the time of release Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass is only supported for the 2014 version of the 5th Edition of D&D." But even that gives hope that it could change, and I would very much like for that to be the case eventually.
I guess I'm just wondering if this is a temporary thing, or if there's no hope that a supplement made available in 2025, when 2024 characters are available and compatibility with 2024 was kind of a push for WotC, will actually support 2024 characters. It's always a pain trying to figure out if there's a snowball's chance in hell of it getting ever updated at this point or if it's gone the way of being able to replace spell picks for legacy Aberrant Mind sorcerers in being a feature that just never gets implemented and has to be homebrewed if you want to use it with the character builder (which, by the way, is possible if you're fine with the potential of people making invalid selections and having a kind of ugly sheet, a tradeoff I'd gladly have to actually use the feature in the character builder). It's pretty frustrating to spend money on books and then have the implementation in the character builder live forever in "We just aren't going to implement it" when the messaging is mixed so badly. I understand that it's not just toggling a switch to make it work, and I can always suffer through fiddling with a bunch of menus to just homebrew the subclasses I want myself, but it's an inelegant solution even when it does work and I assume not all DMs/players are familiar and comfortable with D&D Beyond's homebrew system.
You’d have to ask 1985 Games when or if they plan to add that.
As a workaround in the meantime, you could make a homebrew copy of the 2014 subclass to see how it was set up, then rebuild it as a 2024 subclass instead.
