This website truly has one of the worst search functions I have ever seen. I have been using this site for years, silently tolerating the problem.
Today I tried to search for the spell Contingency. My search for "contingency" yielded 0 results from the whole site. After some experimentation, I realized it was not recognizing the spell name because I had not capitalized it. Searching "Contingency" returned results.
Can somebody PLEASE spend some time making the search function smarter? It's unbearably bad.
The only thing Wizards cares about is how much you spend in the marketplace. People have been complaining and asking for an update for years (earliest post I could find is back in 2021) and they haven't done anything.
Unless the search feature starts magically generating them money, they're never going to bother.
Like everyone else, I have little hope that WOTC will fix their search. It’s frustrating to use and would be laughable if it weren’t so bad.
If anyone with decision-making power reads this, allow users to permanently filter by rules version and toggle unowned content. Showing unowned content in search doesn’t drive sales—it drives users away. Many are turning to alternative tools. Fixing search will attract more users and increase purchases. You have it backwards.
