Unfortunately, years later this is still an issue. I am a bard with Magic Initiate (Sorcerer) and have chosen Chromatic Orb as one of my spells. However, it only shows up in my Level 1 spells and doesn't show the option of casting it at a higher level. Not only that, when I cast it, it doesn't fill in one of my Level 1 spell slots, so it makes it look like a cantrip. I've tried changing the spell to something else and adding it back, and I've even logged out of my account and back in. Nothing seems to help. What can I do?
NOTE: I have purchased the PHB long ago in D&D Beyond, so that shouldn't be an issue.

"Choose a class: bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer, warlock, or wizard. You learn two cantrips of your choice from that class’s spell list. In addition, choose one 1st-level spell to learn from that same list. Using this feat, you can cast the spell once at its lowest level, and you must finish a long rest before you can cast it in this way again. Your spellcasting ability for these spells depends on the class you chose: Charisma for bard, sorcerer, or warlock; Wisdom for cleric or druid; or Intelligence for wizard."
Thank you for pointing that out to me. I've had the character a while, so I didn't recall that highlighted portion.
Worth pointing out that the 2024 PHB version of this feat no longer has this restriction and allows you to also cast the chosen spell using any spell slots you have.

I have scrolled through the spells for lvl 1 wizard but i cant find the spell Chromatic Orb, is it a bug or something going wrong on my end?
Do you have access to the Players Handbook, whether by ownership or sharing in a campaign that you're building the character in?
Chromatic Orb isn't in the free basic rules.
