I'm currently converting my old characters into the new rules. I encountered the issue that the alert feat and also aura of the sentinel (Paladin - Oath of the Watchers - TCoE) are both working on their own, but when combined they do not add up.
Based on the wording they should not exlude each other and I also have not found something contradictory so I assume its a bug and report it here.

I have read it in a way that the source for the extra initiative is the aura itself, which is just based on the proficancy bonus.
Aura:
You emit an aura of alertness while you aren’t incapacitated. When you and any creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you roll initiative, you all gain a bonus to initiative equal to your proficiency bonus.
Alert feat:
When you roll Initiative, you can add your Proficiency Bonus to the roll.
So the difference is "add your proficancy bonus" and "Add a number equal to the proficancy bonus". In my opnion the wording should be different, but if its intended I now know.
