Hello, just started a campaign and attempting to play hexblade Paladin. I’m level 2 Paladin level 1 warlock. From reading Xanathar’s guide to everything, upon my first warlock level I make a pact with an otherworldly patron (the hex blade). This should give me access to the expanded spell list from hex blade which includes shield, a level 1 abjuration. Unfortunately.. the app doesn’t allow my to select my patron and have access to this spell list until level 3 warlock. Is there something I’m missing here? Any help to further understand this would be very appreciated. Thank you!
You're using the 2024 warlock, which chooses their subclass at level 3.
Talk to your DM about which version you should be using. If it's the 2014, you need to have the '2014 core rules' toggle on in the builder, and scroll down further in class selection
Also, if it's 2014, you've probably got the wrong paladin version as well.
Wow! Thank you so much for the insight. I’m new to dnd as this is my first campaign and was going crazy. I’ll make sure to get that clarification from my DM. Thanks again mate.
