I've been looking around on the internet and found that a hexblade warlock is a good build, however, being unable to find many guides, and most being super confusing, I turned to ChatGPT. ChatGPT says I should be able to subclass into "The Fiend" or "Hexblade" at level 1, however, I can only subclass at level 3. So im wondering, which is right?
Actually both are, depending upon whether you are using the 2014 rules or the 2024 rules. In the 2014 rules, you choose your subclass at level 1 just as ChatGPT indicated. However, in the 2024 rules, the subclass is chosen at level 3.
If you want to pick your subclass at level 1 you'll need to choose the 2014 (Legacy) version of the Warlock class rather than the 2024 (Current) version.

Alright! thanks for the answer. That really cleared things up. I'll have to check with my DM but again, thanks for answering!
