So recently Ive noticed that the items that I select for my characters have 2024 rules on them, and I cant seem to find any of the same with the 2014 rules. For example there is the Breastplate. It has AC14 with the D&D Free Rules (2024) attached to it, while the 2014 rules has AC14 + max 2. Why is it so? The problem is the same both on the app and on the web.
I have not dowloaded the free rules for either 2024 nor 2014, but I own and have downloaded the Players handbook 2014 and other 2014 books.
I have the silly Legacy, Homebrew and extended rules selected and the race is selected from the 2014 rules and not the so-called Core rules. I cant find any other preferences to select or de-select, so have beyond just gone south on their word?

D&D Beyond's list of items no longer has separate entries for 2014 versions of mundane weapons and armor. Most of these (including Breastplate) haven't actually changed at all, though.
This is something they did say was going to happen before the 2024 rollout, so while it is a little annoying I wouldn't say they've gone back on their word.
Well look again. There is a difference in the mundane armour of the Breastplate. As I said. And the Battleaxe have a function of "Topple" and so on and so forth. While the latter is just to ignore the first one forgetts or ignores a possible +2 in AC. And that is just one of many examples Ive come across. Id say that is more than annoying. Thank you for your answer and reply thou.

The armor class listed is "14 + Dex modifier (max 2)", which is the same as it was in 2014.
The "Topple" thing you're talking about is a weapon mastery property, which is a feature from the 2024 rules. If you're playing with 2014 rules, you can just ignore it.
Yes, thank you. Ive seen that as well. But if you add the item to your character using the app or on the web, the AC says just 14. But you know. I have figured it out. It doesnt say +2 on the item, but it actually change according to your dex modifier. If would have been so much easier to have a 2014/2024 button.

They absolutely should've provided some kind of 2014/2024 toggle switch, you're right about that. The rollout of all the 2024 stuff has been a mess from the beginning.
Know this is an old thread, but the lance weapon is completely different from 2014 to 2024, 2014 has a d12 damage and disadvantage within 5 feet 2024 has a d10 damage and no disadvantage property. Is there any way I can get the old lance for my 2014 characters? I tried making a homebrew item but you cant change damage dice or types on magic items.
I'd recommend adding it as a custom action directly on the sheet. Head to the Actions tab and click "Manage Custom" in the top right corner to get started.
You can pair it with a custom item in your inventory as well, if you like. Go to Inventory, click Manage Inventory at the top, then click Add Custom Item in the sidebar.

I'm looking at the Breastplate listing right now: https://www.dndbeyond.com/equipment/13-breastplate
