It would be great for errata/sage advice clarity on a quarterstaff with shillelagh, when used during pam bonus action, that it is 1d4 or 1d8 (scaled with levels by shillelagh).
Also based on that, update dndbeyond features for the bonus action with shillelagh to not require a custom 1d4 based on cha .
Idea 1: make a bonus action version of shillelagh that is only 1d4 but charisma for hitting
Idea 2: keep the single button as is, its 1d8+ but maybe make a ruling so it can be used as bonus action at 1d8
Idea 3: just make a clear ruling
often its rules either way online “which comes first the chicken or the egg” aka the 1d8 shillelagh or pam 1d4?
I’d recommend adding a custom action to your character sheet for this. Just go to the Actions tab and click “Manage Custom” in the top-right corner to get started.
Awesome thanks for helping with that. Imho instead of thousands of players making custom buttons, dndbeyond should add a bonus action version of shillaegh. I will do this in the meantime.
Sage:
If I cast shillelagh on my quarterstaff and have the Polearm Master feat, does the bonus attack use a d4 or a d8 for damage?
The benefit from Polearm Master applies to the opposite end of the weapon and always uses a d4 for damage rather than the weapon’s normal damage die. This is true for a quarterstaff enhanced with shillelagh just as it is for a normal one.

This was already answered in the Sage Advice Compendium.
