Basically, i'm creating a homebrew paladin subclass that lets them select one wizard spell of each spell level when they unlock said spell level for a free cast, so as paladins, they get this subclass at level 3 and can select one level 1 spell. Then at level 5, they can select a level 2 spell, level 9 gives a level 3 spell, etc. through 4th and 5th level spells at character level 13 & 17. However, in the character builder, the player can see & select the spells for all levels, even at lower levels, so at level 3, it shows all 5 dropdowns to select all 5 of the spells when I want it to only show the first one.
Now, they don't actually have access to those spells in their sheet until they reach the specified level, but I would still like to not let it pop up in the character builder until that level. I've granted spells and spell choices in the homebrew subclass editor before, I know there is the "Available at Character Level" field, but like I said, it only hides it in the character sheet until that level, not the builder. Does anyone know how I can accomplish that? I could put in some text to the player that basically says, this is a limitation of the system, you can choose now, but you won't get it in your sheet until the correct level, but I dislike doing that. I can give more details if needed, seems like I can't add screenshots to this.
Each one as separate feature and enter the relevant number in the Required Level box.

As expected, doing it this way works. It's not my preferred method, and I don't like how it makes the number of features look bloated, but on the plus side, it's easier for the players to see it, since the new spell selection is added to the bottom of the character builder.

Hmm, not what I had in mind, but that is doable. I'll see how it looks tomorrow
