Try naming them first, if they don't have a name yet.

I have 2 Encounters, I tried to delete, together with a dozen other. Most were deleted without issue. But I have 2 remaining after trying to delete.
They seem stuck now. If I try to delete them again nothing happens
If you submit a support ticket for it, they will delete them for you. They're usually pretty quick about it.
