Rules say that, for a 2024 character, you can use a 2014 subclass, but it seems like some subclasses are available on 2024 but others are not.
For example, a 2024 Warlock can be made using the hexblade patron from XGtE or the genie patron from TCoE, but is unable to the Lantern patron from the new Obojima book. The only way to use that subclass is with a 2014 character.
Is this a bug with some of the source books? Is it that beyond only allows 1st party 2014 content to be used on 2024 characters? Is it some sort of contract issue with the 3rd party publisher? What's the deal?
It's not a bug; the creators of third-party content get to decide which version of the rules their content is compatible with, and for that reason some of them have only been implemented for one version or the other.
But isn't "everything is backwards compatible" like... the whole thing with 2024? Like there are rules that go over explicit details stating that 2014 subclasses are useable with 2024 classes and how you should be using them. So why would the publisher need to add it to a 2024 class?
When it comes to implementing those rules in DDB, I’d assume they’ve signed some sort of publishing agreement with the third party that places limitations on where and how that information can be used. If adding it to the 2024 class would violate that agreement, then they wouldn’t be able do it. They’d need to get back together and hash out a new agreement.
That purely conjecture, of course. There’s been no public statement on the subject, aside from the fact that this is up to those third parties.
Just like the title says. Is this a bug?

pronouns: he/she/they
Yeah, if you’d like to see any of those added to the 2024 classes, please discuss it with those third-parties.

That’s true for the rules themselves, sure.
