I’m not sure if this is a repeat of a problem about a month back where some books were getting caught in a loop of needing updates and then not updating properly so needing to be updated again and again but in the last week virtually every book I own has needed updating and some, like Tyranny of Dragons and Spelljammer as two out of several, have needed to be updated repeatedly. I’m on iOS and using both an iPhone and an iPad and getting the same in both
I was able to download all available updates just now (and there were a lot!). At the very least, this doesn’t seem to be the same cause as that prior issue.

Sounds like some kind of problem in the app's data. Try deleting it from your phone and reinstalling. (A pain, but you'll have an uncorrupted cache.)
