I'm encountering an issue when creating a 2024 PHB character class. When I choose a background that provides a specific feat, that feat doesn't appear during the character creation process. I've made sure that the background I selected should grant a feat, but it's not showing up in the list of available feats or being automatically applied to the character.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or know what might be causing it? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I don't have the new Player's Handbook myself, but we're trying to create the class using my DM's account, who does have it.
What do you mean when you say “create a class” exactly? It’s not actually possible to create a class on DDB. Do you mean creating a subclass in the homebrewer? Do you mean leveling up a character? Please explain.
I made a mistake. I'm referring to creating a character sheet, not designing a custom class. No need to apologize, I just needed a little clarification. I have read reports in these forums where that can occasionally happen, the solution seems to be to unselect the background/feat and reselect it however many times it takes to register. Of course, that only works if you are using the correct version of the character sheet. When you selected the character’s class, did you select the “core rules” 2024 version, or the “legacy” 2014 version?
This is a constant issue also for me. I've selected a custom Criminal background, but there is no Alert feat added to the sheet. The Lucky feat selected for Human Versatile is added correctly, as is the skill proficiencies selected from the custom background. I've tried to unselect/select the background feat many times but that doesn't resolve it.

The D&D Beyond character builder doesn't (yet?) support custom backgrounds of the style defined in the 2024 books. The only way to get around this at the moment is to add the feat manually via the Manage Feats button on the character sheet.
Well sometime it supports some custom background things. I have some created characters where the skill proficiencies and languages are applied, and some where they are not. The background feats however are never applied it seems, at least not for me.

Right. It supports the kind of custom backgrounds based on the 2014 rules, but not the new kind based on the 2024 rules.
