Hi there!  I'm experiencing an unusual issue affecting just two of my characters on D&D Beyond (specifically, the two I most recently accessed, both edited within the last month).  On those two characters, I discovered after logging in today that any items I had added to their inventories that were not fully custom items, but were standard items with customizations made to them in the character sheet, have lost those customizations.  For example, one of these characters had three Book items added to their inventory which had each been customized to show the Name as the book title, and with Notes added to describe the contents of the book.  None of my older characters appear to have been affected by this issue.

Anyone else experiencing this, or know of a cause and/or workaround?  I unfortunately have lost some relatively important information about certain items on these characters since losing these customizations, and am hoping there's a way to retrieve the missing customizations.

This has happened to every character in our campaign across multiple accounts. Every single customization has been removed. Regarding sheet age, the characters are several years old but all had been updated within the past month.

We've waited a couple hours in case the refresh needed to happen in the background like when one edits a homebrew item but none of the character item customization have been restored.

The most serious/affecting part of this bug for our campaign, is that we had all created containers (renamed "Backpacks") where we could track gold that we had deposited in the bank, or stored other places.  All of that gold stored has disappeared so we have all lost the majority of the cash for our characters.   We trusted DNDBeyond to be safe, and this update has completely screwed us!!

I'm also adding to these reports, this bug has affected anything moved to "Party Inventory" including any container modification as mentioned by the poster above and "Party Inventory" has not been fixed/rolled back, either. Many of us have been using container customization as a workaround for the inability to homebrew.

Since the maintenance, I see that character sheets are all missing all the currency amounts that was carried in containers - backpacks, saddlebags, bag of holding, etc.    Only the currency carried directly on the person (in equipment) is still there - everything else is zeroed out.

This is the case for all the characters in my campaign from different user accounts, and all their containers, whether the containers had any customized names/notes or not.

my friend group is having this same issue, we have 2 campaigns where all of our characters lost gold and item customizations

On the Discord support channel, WOTC_Zac made this post earlier this week about this defect- 

1/22/2026 9:52 AM  Not sure if it's been communicated, but an issue was reported today where currency stored in containers is missing after the maintenance window on Monday. We have identified a fix and plan to have the issue resolved by the end of the week or early next week. If anyone sees someone asking about this issue, you can link them to this post.

All items and containers that had customization in "Party Inventory" still has not been fixed and the following characters were not resolved as part of this fix, needing manual rollback as soon as you can:

I haven't had any issues with gold going missing, but all the custom items in the party's shared inventory disappeared a few weeks ago and still haven't returned. I ended up estimating how much those items were worth and just gave them the equivalent amount of gold.
