I'm starting a new test campaign to simplify things for my players. I went into content sharing and only shared 5e content. I sent myself an invitation to the campaign. I went to make a character and the 5.5e character class options are still there. Why is this and how do I turn it off? I'm trying to get players to use DnD Beyond. They aren't experienced players and I want them to like the experience. How do I eliminate 5.5e character class options in character creation? It seems that the "Content Management" option is not working or is useless.
I just made it to the "Background" section. All the 5.5e backgrounds are there and they are totally different and I don't want my players to have access to those.
So, within the character creator, I disabled everything but 5e. This includes Homebrew and Legacy/Noncore. I still get background options from Critical Role. So, the DM evidently has no control on how characters are made for his/her campaign. That is left up to the player and in my case they have little to no experience. Is setting the character creation guidelines not a core function of creating a campaign?
"Content Management" is working fine; it just doesn't do the thing you're trying to do with it because that's not what it's for. Content Management doesn't change anything about which character options are available.
It's not currently possible for the DM to restrict which character options are available to players in a campaign. This is, apparently, a feature that's coming soon.
The way that you control which character options are available on an individual character is by the various checkboxes in the "Sources" section of the "Home" tab of the character builder. If you're seeing Critical Role options, it's because you've checked the "Critical Role" box under Partnered Content. Uncheck that and you won't see them anymore.
What Content Management is for is basically stopping players from reading ahead in an adventure. Only the "Sources" and "Partnered Content" toggles in their character settings control which character options can be added.

Then what's the point of being able to share selective content for a campaign. Just admit it, it's just a way to push source books that aren't selling well. It's BS, if as a DM running a campaign, I can't limit my players to a set of rules, what's the point?
Thanks for the input, try and sell that somewhere else,
So, it's not for a DM to setup his/her games? What's the point. Defend inadequacies somewhere else. It should be a core feature. They're just trying to sell things that aren't selling well in the community. Thanks for the input,

There's a fix to that degree coming soon.
