My DM bought the artificer option and can see that as a class choice for him.  He has shared his content with me through his account, but I do not have the class available (with everything necessary checked for resources).  He was not sure why and suggested I ask for help.  Help?

Are you making your character in the campaign where the content is being shared?

Character options shared through content sharing are only available to characters actually in the campaign.
