Good evening,
I am working on building a halfling bard. I want him learn the Shield spell, so I purchased the digital 2024 PHB in the Marketplace. I cannot find the PHB as a source. I can see it in my library and everything looks as if it has synced. I'm not sure how to add the book so I can add the spell. I have deleted my cookies, thinking that may be the issue, but it didn't seem to change anything. I'm new to D&D (and D&D Beyond), so please excuse my ignorance. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for that information. His background was a sage so I didn’t know if that would make a difference or not. I will look at other spells then.
Sage does make a difference, but you have to select Shield through the Magic Initiate feat

Thank you. I was able to find Shield under the Magic Initiate feat. I was creating this character on Discord with a DM and trying to recreate it in D&D Beyond. I didn't go far enough in the process.
