I created a homebrew race, toggled the "Will have Subraces" check box, and created 3 subraces. Now when I go to my character creator, the subraces will show up as individual race selections, but the race they should fall under is not shown anywhere.
Hi Sylvanborn. Whenever a race has subraces, you cannot choose the base race. For example, if you want to play an Elf, you choose one of the elf subraces, not "Elf" as a parent race on its own.
Additionally, DDB currently does not enable "folders" for homebrew races, so you won't see the race like the elf where you see "Elf" as a dropdown with many options beneath it. Homebrew races instead display as all races used to about 3 months ago, which is separated. Last I saw from a moderator this is a planned improvement for homebrew functionality, but it is among many improvements and no date can be predicted for it.
If you're looking for the base race to be one thing, while the subraces are variant options, you would want to select the "Variant" option instead of subraces.
