I'm working on a few homebrew spells. for a second level spell I'm making, I have higher level scaling type set to Spell Scale, I have the damage modifier selected, and I'm using level 3, modifier>damage, type>additional points, number>1, die type>d8, fixed value>0.
The goal is for the spell to do 3d8 damage and increase by 1d8 every level. Can anyone explain to me why it isn't upscaling? What am I missing?
Since your scaling type is Spell Scale, what you have currently will only add the additional points every 3 levels. In At Higher Levels, set Level: 1 instead.
oooh, okay. I misunderstood and thought that you set it up for the level after the base-level of the spell. Thanks for the clarification!
That's how it works when Scaling Type is set to "Spell Level", so your confusion is understandable! (I have a homebrew spell of each scaling type that I reference if I forget how these things work.)
