I've only got the basic program right now. but I'm looking into buying the full version with all the books. but one of my characters is a multi-class dagger thrower, and although the dagger can be used as a thrown weapon it is in the program as a melee weapon. so it wont show all of my bonuses for archery and stuff on the weapon. is there a way to change this in the full version or is this something that needs to be put in a update.
The archery fighting style applies to ranged weapons. A dagger is a melee weapon with the thrown property, so archery does not apply here. Archery will apply to darts though, because they are ranged weapons.
the archery fighting style does apply to daggers when they are thrown according the rules in the SRD.
definition of a ranged weapon. "A weapon that can be used to make a ranged Attack has a range in parentheses after the Ammunition or thrown property. The range lists two numbers. The first is the weapon’s normal range in feet, and the second indicates the weapon’s long range. When attacking a target beyond normal range, you have disadvantage on the Attack roll. You can’t Attack a target beyond the weapon’s long range."
archery fighting style."You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls you make with ranged weapons."
when you use it in melee it is considered a melee weapon, but when you throw it then it is considered a ranged weapon. im just trying to figure out how to switch the weapon from melee to ranged as there are a few weapons like this.

What bonuses to archery should apply to daggers?
He's probably asking about the Fighter Combay style: Archery. And the answer is yes, it does apply to throwing daggers

Dagger is not a ranged weapon. So, Archery Fighting Style should not apply to it.
No, it doesn't. The fighting style dueling, however, does.

I can't find that definition of ranged weapon anywhere. Closest is from ranged attacks here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/compendium/rules/basic-rules/combat#RangedAttacks
Ranged attacks and ranged weapons are two different things. In the case of throwing a dagger, you are making a ranged attack with a melee weapon.
