Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before, but google isn't finding anything useful.
I'm working on, with my DM's permission, adding a homebrew druid spell that replaces barkskin. The general idea is that it essentially gives the target the monk's unarmored defense feature as long as the caster concentrates (up to an hour). The problem is that while I can find ways for the spell to set a specific number as a flat AC, I can't seem to find a way to add a formula to set the AC to 10+DEX+WIS. Is this even possible and I'm just missing an option, or do I need to do some kind of workaround involving equipping and unequipping a custom armor item?
It will have to be a custom item. Although it doesn't necessarily need to be armor, it might be easiest to do with armor, so you don't get any weird stacking issues. Spells themselves can't provide buffs at the moment.
Actually this modifier seems to work well on an item:
So, it turns out I was actually running into something that the site doesn't support: live updating of AC that isn't equipment-based. I ended up just having the description of the spell be accurate, and I'll need to work with my DM for reminders of when to manually override my AC to match when the spell is cast and when it ends. Thanks for the help though!
