First and foremost, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the incredible platform you've created. My group plays every Saturday, and Roll20 combined with D&D Beyond has made our sessions so much more immersive and engaging. My players and I love it—thank you for all the hard work that goes into maintaining and improving these tools.
That said, I’ve encountered some recurring issues while attempting to publish my homebrew content to the community, and I’m hoping to get some guidance or insight.
Issue: Unable to Publish Certain Homebrews
I’ve created a variety of homebrew subclasses for our ongoing campaign, including:
The Raven – Warlock Pact
Circle of the Eclipse – Druid Circle
Circle of Thorns – Druid Circle
Oath of Eschalon – Paladin Oath (unique to my homebrew world)
While most of my homebrew content works perfectly within our campaign, a few subclasses throw the following error when I attempt to publish them to the community:
"This Subclass cannot be shared with the community for the following reasons: This homebrew Subclass has data mapped to it that is licensed content or private homebrew. This typically occurs when licensed or private homebrew spells are linked to the Subclass."
I’ve taken multiple steps to resolve this on my own:
Removed all references to any known IP (e.g., changed "Raven Queen" to "The Raven" or "The Queen")
Deleted [Tooltip Not Found] links
Removed any hyperlinks or copy-pasted spell tables (even ones formatted for clarity)
Rewritten entire subclass descriptions from scratch, using new names and restructured content
Despite these efforts, the error persists with no specific indication of what content is triggering the block. This makes troubleshooting very difficult. I’m reaching out in hopes that someone from the moderation or development team could take a deeper look or provide more specific publishing criteria. I’d love to share these with the broader community—not for credit, but so others can enjoy and possibly build upon what I’ve created.
Is there any possibility of implementing a feature in the character builder that filters content to only show homebrew created or approved within the current campaign? For example, having a toggle to:
Show only content created by the DM or other players in the campaign
Hide all other published homebrew or official content (unless enabled)
This would go a long way in helping players find relevant custom options more easily without wading through unrelated material.
I’ve invested heavily in D&D Beyond content (over $350), and it would be amazing to have a native virtual tabletop (VTT) experience integrated with this ecosystem. Are there any future plans to release or partner with a VTT solution so users like myself don’t need to duplicate purchases on Roll20 or other platforms just to get access to dynamic maps, lighting, and module features?
This would not only streamline the player experience but also bring everything under one roof—campaign management, character sheets, homebrew, and live gameplay.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this. I understand that development priorities are complex, but I appreciate any information, guidance, or consideration the team can provide.
Regarding the error while publishing: there’s a known issue at the moment causing Basic Rules spells (which are normally allowed) to flag that error instead. This means it’s not currently possible to publish any homebrew containing official spells. I’m not aware of any current workaround, but the devs have already been notified.

Feature Request #1: Campaign-Specific Homebrew View
Is there any possibility of implementing a feature in the character builder that filters content to only show homebrew created or approved within the current campaign? For example, having a toggle to:
Show only content created by the DM or other players in the campaign
Hide all other published homebrew or official content (unless enabled)

Feature Request #2: D&D Beyond Virtual Tabletop Integration
I’ve invested heavily in D&D Beyond content (over $350), and it would be amazing to have a native virtual tabletop (VTT) experience integrated with this ecosystem. Thank you for taking the time to read through this. I understand that development priorities are complex, but I appreciate any information, guidance, or consideration the team can provide.

And for your second request, that already exists. Say hello to Maps:

The spell issue should now be fixed! You may need to edit your subclass and hit the main save button to get that error to go away.
