I noticed when creating an Artificer that my skill modifiers that relied on STR and CHA (both 8) were 0 and not as they should be. Just to make sure it wasn't some other factor I made a new level 1 human artificer with all negative modifiers and still no skill was below 0.
Currently the values seem to only be affected when not proficient; proficient skills add up correctly.
It appears that values are 0 when they should be and then any value below that swaps to positive ( to )
Edit: The problem is specific to D&DToolbox, not Artificer. I found the precise cause is the "Character Sheet Skill Calculator" option in the extension. Turning this off fixes the issue.

I could not reproduce this. Could you link the character please?
Me neither. This sounds interesting. Link the sheet so that we- and the Mods- can see it, so there is possibility of fixing it.
Extended Signature! Yay! https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/off-topic/adohands-kitchen/3153-extended-signature-thread?page=2#c21
Haven’t used this account in forever. Still a big fan of crawling claws.

Ok. For now we've established that it is not a replicable bug. No one else comment that until OP replies. Thank you.
Seems I was incorrect, the problem is specific to the "D&D Toolbox" chrome extension and not the Artificer. Works fine when I disable it.
When I refresh I can see the "-1" get set and quickly changed to a 0.
