Currently have a chronurgy wizard built using the subclass from explorers guide to wildemount. Trying to add some of the dunamancy spells from the same book, but cannot see them as available options while building the character
Are they chronurgy spells? Chronurgy wizards don't get access to graviturgy spells, and vice versa. Do you own the whole book, or do you only own parts of the book?
I realized that a couple hours after making this post, and yes I do own the full book. I had to custom create the spells to allow them for my wizard, as the dm allows me access to both.
Even according to Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, we should be able to add these spells for non-Dunamancy wizards (pending DM approval). Yet DnDBeyond doesn't seem to have a way to add them for non-Dunamancy wizards outside of just making a custom spell. The guide says this:
"Dunamancy spells are readily available to the wizard subclasses in this chapter and should not be simply added to the full spell lists of other spellcasting classes. However, the Dungeon Master can consider allowing other spellcasting classes opportunities throughout the campaign to learn a handful of dunamancy-themed spells as rewards."
It'd be nice if we could, you know, do that. Hopefully they'll adjust this eventually.
That is not even an “optional rule,” it’s really just a tacit suggestion for a potential houserule. Houseules are not supported on DDB, or more accurately they are supported by supplying us with the ability to create private homebrew. You can homebrew those spells to be available for any class you want in only a few minutes.
