While adding equipment to a character today, I noticed that when I go to add item and filter for items with "protection" I see a "COPY_OF_Ring of Protection" on the list.
As I'd expect if I'd started to create a new magic item, based off a Ring of Protection, but not finished/renamed it.
I checked by Homebrew Collection and Homebrew Creations, no such item. I created a new "COPY_OF_Ring of Protection" for my collection, then deleted it, still have the option to add it.
I have a DM subscription and haven't joined any other DM's campaign, if that matters.
Anybody know how I can get rid of that rogue item from my characters' "add item" options?
Yes, he's attached to one of my campaigns. When I remove him, the Copy item doesn't show up on add items. When I put him back in the campaign its there again.
Is there somewhere I can purge my campaign of copy items? Or would I have to drop everyone, delete the campaign and start again?

The item you are seeing is probably someone else's homebrew. Private homebrew is shared automatically and there is no way to turn it off (yet).
Yes, I believe DxJxC is correct. As the character is inside of a campaign with other users, it would have access to all of their homebrew content. Sounds as though one of your friends may have this item in their own collection.

Hello Tersival! Is this character currently in a campaign? (Whether or not the campaign belongs to another user)
