I have created a custom feat to track spell points (variant rules) along with sorcery points. I have tested it and it works great and showing the correct amount of points at each level. However, whenever I try to actually use the feat by subtracting the points and trying to confirm, I receive an error telling me to refresh the page. Some times it works the first time, and I am able to get it from say 32 to 27, but then any other uses are stopped by the same error. When I use long rest, it returns back to max.
I have tried refreshing, logging in and out, and changing computers, but it still behaves the same way and gives me the same errors.
Hello Noxrim, when asking for assistance with homebrew we would recommend sharing a link to your unpublished work so that myself or another member of our moderation team can take a look for you.
It looks like this feat has a lot of scaling for uses with level. Unfortunately feats are not currently built to support such extensive scaling. Though it's not ideal, I would recommend considering creating multiple feats, or even creating a homebrew subclass for the character in question to better support the larger scaling you're looking to utilize here.
I didn't know about the limit for the scaling. Just for clarification, what is the maximum level scaling that you would recommend for each feat? And in case I add it as a subclass feature, would it be able to support the scaling as it is in the feat currently?
Edit: I have created a subclass with the same feature, and it seems to be working fine! Thanks for the suggestion!
Hello all,

Here are some images to see the issue.
Any idea why this is happening? and is there anything for me to do to fix it?
Kind regards,
Nox

Hello MellieDM,
Thanks for your reply, and sorry for not providing the link. I assumed that since it was unpublished that you wouldn't be able to see it.
Here is the custom feat link: https://www.dndbeyond.com/feats/242799-spell-points-sorlock-from-5
Thank you! And no worries. ;)

I'm sorry I wasn't able to be of more help!
Thanks for taking the time to figure it out!
