I was trying to compile all the sidekick stat changes into one document instead of having them spread over DoIP and the 3 DDB follow-up adventures, when I noticed some problems with the stat blocks. I've mostly read through the Expert so far and seen issues there, but that doesn't mean there aren't some in the others. Most of the issues seem to revolve around level 7, where DDB created the levels and took over from WotC's version, creating a fresh statblock instead of continuing to provide a table of improvements.
I'll make follow-up posts on this thread, or edit this post, as I find more. Others might also post anything along these lines they find here.
The AC for the expert seems incorrectly calculated from levels 4-6. It's listed as having studded leather armor (12+dex), and has a +3 dex, so its AC should be 15, but it's listed as 14.
The level 7 expert and beyond have applied the expertise feature to acrobatics and stealth instead of leaving it to the player's/DM's choice as in levels 1-6.
The level 7 expert seems to lose 1 point of dexterity and gain 1 point of intelligence. This seems like a retcon of the level 4 ASI, but the retcon has not been applied to levels 4-6.
The level 7 expert seems to lose the Cunning Action feature while gaining the Evasion feature. Is this an intentional swap, or did Cunning Action accidentally get dropped?
The expert wields a shortbow, which is listed in the statblock as dealing 1d8 damage from levels 1-6. Level 7 and beyond reduces it to 1d6, which is the die that the shortbow would normally do.
There also seems to be discrepancies between versions of the expert even at the same level, depending on where you view it. If you view it as a monster or as an extra on a character sheet, it has the issues listed above. If you view it in the encounter builder, it seems to have fewer of the above issues.
There are even more issues with level 7 stuff. Didn't even mention how the spellcasters went from having 2 second level slots (level 3 spellcaster) at level 6 (half caster) to 1 4th level slot at level 7 (full caster). DDB is just following the books (which seem to have been written without checking previous books). I can only suggest fixing these yourself.
The expert's AC at level 4 is again just following the book. The level up chart lists all stats that should be adjusted by the ASI and AC is not listed. All we can do is fix it our selves while we wait for errata.
