I ported the remastered version of the monk subclass, Way of the Four Elements made by /u/SpiketailDrake (I can't publish it, unfortunately) and I ran into a problem: Some elemental disciples allow you to cast spells with your ki. I want for the spells to be easily understood, meaning you don't have to have a separate tab open for each spell. The best way for this to be done, would be if tooltips (such as fireball) showed up on the character sheet. Unfortunately, they don't. My workaround for this was to give the spells as known, prepared, and check off that they don't use spell slots. Even with this, they still didn't not show up. I had to resort to giving the Spellcasting feature to a non-caster, which does make the spells show up on the character sheet, but also has the unintended side-effect of giving spell slots.
I would love if either tooltips showed up or I could add spells without having to add spell slots. (Or even better to instead link the spell to ki so it is automatically used up when you cast a spell.)
Any suggestions or response on the matter is appreciated.
It seems that the problem is that the character sheet does not recognise spells added via homebrew subclasses as being spells unless the Spellcasting or Pact Magic features are included.
I am seeing the same thing. I have created a subclass, as a level 3 feature used Options > Spells to allow the character to select 1 cantrip known from the Wizard's spell list. However, when going to the character sheet the Spells section does not appear. If I change the race to High Elf and select a cantrip then the Spells section displays but does not include the spell granted by the subclass.
The only way I can see to get the subclass spells to display is by adding a Limited Use option but then the details appear in "Limited Use" rather than "Spells".
I see how Limited use might be helpful for you, but this subclass has over 40 elemental attunements (many of which are spells) and copying each spell's description doesn't seem like a productive thing to do. And then there's also the fact they're not limited use while you have ki points.
