I have a character with a home brew +1 halberd. With Strength of +3, proficiency of +2, and the +1 weapon, the standard to hit is correct at +6. However, the Polearm Master special abilities of the bonus hit and the reaction hit are both showing +5 to hit. Am I missing something or is this a bug?
The special actions added by the feat are added by the feat. Currently, there is no coding for the feat to be able to check your equipment and then change the action accordingly.
That would take some pretty robust coding since it is possible to have multiple weapons equipped at a time.
You can customize the action on the character sheet to be correct.
I believe putting the wrong value is the worst of all solutions. If you can't accurately compute the value, then please don't put in a value. It is better I click on the feat, read it and manually compute the correct value. I hope one day you can get it in, but until then, if the sheets are inaccurate, we can't trust them and will have people going back to other solutions.
I was trying to get my group to start using D&D Beyond, but them seeing this inaccurate value is a pretty big negative to them giving up their current solutions. I bought the subscription so they could use D&D Beyond, but if they don't use it I won't have a need for the subscription.
Though, I'll certainly keep using D&D Beyond as I find it extremely valuable to be able to quickly reference the material.
This is a pretty niche issue (an action that should apply bonuses from other than its source). Most of the time the character sheet calculates things correctly and it is more likely to track bonuses the player forgets than miss a bonus, and even when it doesn't it still takes less work to correct it than it takes to make a custom attack.
