This is an old (not bug) issue. Currently, all fighting style features are its own independent list that is not able to check which styles you have already. There are plans to fix it (might even happen soon).
I built a Ranger5/Fighter2. And took the Archery fighting style on both. I think that is not supposed to work.
"You adopt a particular style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options. You can’t take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if you later get to choose again."
It has been this way for a long time due to a technical limitation - the Fighting Styles are all separate lists that can't communicate previous choices to each other.
The thing about DNDBeyond is that just because it lets you do something - doesn't necessarily mean it's within the rules to do so. It's up to you (and/or the DM) to make sure your character is within the rules.
When I chose an additional Fighting Style, the same one that i had picked (Defense) was an option. Has anybody else noticed this bug?
Enjoy my magic items, spells, monsters, my race, and a few feats. And GIVE ME FEEDBACK... or else.
Like what I say?
⬐ Just press this little guy right here.
Thanks for the report - I'll pass it along to the devs.
