Hello there! I was looking at the speed of ships from the Players Handbook. They seem to not match what items are linked, example being the longship from the PHB is 3mph, while the longship shown is 5mph which is the ship from the Ghosts of Saltmarsh book.
Just wondering which one is correct? All of the ships/boats are like this except the Galley which is correct.
The ships listed in the Player's Handbook aren't the same as those listed in Ghost's of Saltmarsh. The former and Equipment and the latter are Vehicles. They're both 'correct' in that they're two different things in the rules (albeit both supposedly representing the same thing).
DDB first implemented them as a result of GoS, I believe. Also, PHB has changed a bunch of minutia over quite a few revisions. Maybe they standardized them? Are you looking at a hard copy or DDB for the PHB numbers?

It just seems to me that if they are two different things, why would on DnDBeyond, the PHB link to the ghost of saltmarsh vehicles then?
