I like the concept of Quick Builds, and they seem great for new players and tired, lazy veteran players (and DM's quickly making an NPC) but I noticed a number of problems with one Fighter I made that was a Mountain Dwarf.
First off:
The automatically selected "Fighting Style" was Archery, but the character was not given any ranged weapons. No bow, no crossbow, just a Longsword and 2 handaxes that didn't show the +2 to hit bonus as they can only be equipped as melee (not ranged) which I feel is an oversight of the system.
I feel that the primary purpose of most Fighters is physical tank, so feel that the fighting style picked should probably be "Defense" or "Protection" rather than "Archery" and I think that was probably the original intention of the Quick Build Template, as the default equipment is Longsword and Shield, along with 2 hand axes.
Secondly:
The background proficiencies are WAY off for this fighter. For the "Soldier" background, the selected skills were Deception and Perception instead of Athletics and Intimidation, and Deception is totally useless for a fighter with 8 Charisma (which is honestly a good dump stat for this build), and the 2 Tool Proficiencies are Thieves' Tools and LUTE!
My guess is that the engine has a bug that gives a Rogue or Bard's proficiencies to the Soldier Background by mistake.
Thirdly:
For the Fighter Class Proficiencies, Perception and Survival are given, but this shouldn't even be possible, as Perception was ALSO given wrongly for the Soldier background as well. Don't get me wrong, Perception and Survival are excellent choices IF Athletics and Intimidation were correctly given by the Soldier Background, but the way it's implemented now is a big buggy contradictory mess.
Fourthly:
The 10 gp, clothes, gaming set, and either dungeoneer's/explorer's pack from the Starting Equipment and Soldier background aren't added to the inventory.
Now this seems to be an issue with every quick build, but I just wanted to point it out as a problem that isn't fixed and that I honestly feel should've been fixed before launch, and should be corrected ASAP.
My recommendation is that the coders look at this (and all the other Quick Builds) and double-check to make sure everything is correct. All that would need for this quick build to be fixed is the "Protection" fighting style instead of "Archery", and for the Soldier background to actually give the proficiencies (Skills AND tool-wise) that it's supposed to. I also feel that every quick start character should have all the relevant starting equipment, including the packs and background items too.
Further note: I quick built two rangers and they seem to have similar issues (particularly with background proficiencies) and for some reason the Ranger's Background was "Soldier" instead of the more fitting (in terms of narrative AND skills) "Folk Hero".
Just an FYI. I haven't had the time to check other quick builds, but I feel like every single one should get a once-over.

I do believe they have mentioned that quick build characters aren't optimized. However there are changes coming. If you think those are off try having fun with a randomly generated character as they are completely random and offer gobs of role playing opportunities.
