Seems like a bug or error in the code? I created a race in which the Martial Adept feat is granted. Upon character creation, this selection instead gives a list of what seems to be wild talent feats, or psionic feats to choose from. Is there a workaround or is this just not working?
Can you clarify as to whether you own the Player's Handbook on D&D Beyond? The feats you're describing sound like the ones available via Unearthed Arcana, which would be free for all users. If you do, please post a link to your homebrew race so that either myself or another moderator can take a look.
Absolutely. I hadn't opened it to the community since I am essentially still testing out how to create a race. In all honesty, as it stands this creation is a copy of another persons homebrew. I noticed that their function for giving the martial adept feat did not work so I tried to recreate the race on my own in order to determine if it was just a mistake the use is making. Still not sure, but now my variant is open to the community.
It's entirely likely that I am just doing something wrong, since this has mostly just been a process for me to learn how the different creation functions work. Thanks for taking a look.
EDIT:
P.S. to answer your other question, I do not currently own any of the books on D&D Beyond. I own so many physical copies I haven't committed to buying any yet. I'm just using what is free on the site right now. I did just upgrade to the yearly DM membership, however.
Okay after looking back at it, and re-reading, I believe I understand what might be the issue. Since I do not own the PHB on dnd beyond, I do not have access to the PHB feats for homebrew races. Is this correct? It looks like all but two of the feats available are listed as "(UA)".
Not all of the creation guidelines are explicit, especially when you don't own the content.

Gotcha - moderators such as myself are able to view homebrew content without it being published.
That being said, as you don't own the feat on D&D Beyond - that's why it won't appear in the character builder. The subscription allows users to share any content purchased on D&D Beyond with other players in campaigns. However - you always have the option of either buying those items piecemeal (so for example, you could purchase JUST the Martial Adept feat for $1.99 - which would lower the cost for the book if you decide to purchase it later on down the line) or you can use the homebrew tools to recreate the Martial Adept feat for personal use (which wouldn't cost anything - you would just need to input all the data yourself).
