As you can see in the Skill tree I have: Athletics + Insight + Intimidation + Perception with Proficiency.
My question is WHY? As you can see in this picture If I select a soldier as background in the book I can see that we can have: Athletic and Intimidation, but when I create the character, only Athletics is there and I can select what I want in the second skill, why?
... If a character would gain the same proficiency from two different sources, he or she can choose a different proficiency of the same kind (skill or tool) instead.

If you already have a proficiency from somewhere else then the background will allow you to choose something else instead of what would normally be given.
