Maybe I'm missing something, but when I create characters, I only have one, maybe two, options for domains and selected feats. Right now, I'm working on a cleric, and I can only select life domain. Yesterday, I was putting together a barbarian, and I only had two options for perks. I bought the regular subscription, and I'm trying to make characters for my campaign, but these limited options are really going to make my story dull.
So then, this entire system is kinda useless since I paid to make as many NPC's as I want, but then can't even advance one passed level 2? And I already paid for all the books long before this site came about, and now I'm expected to pay full price for them again?
You can't really go passed level 2, because that's when you pick your domains, which pretty well defines your class and character. With only one domain to choose from, it's not really a choice.
Well, saying "you can't go past level 2" and "with the free content, you have only 1 choice for the archetype" are two different things. That is why I answered that way.
I am sorry if you feel disappointed, but there is a copyright on the non-free content.
Well, the initial post said that there is only one archetype. And again, I've already paid Wizards for the Player's Handbook and the Monster Manual. Obviously, that's not something I can prove to you and not something you have the power to help me with. So instead of arguing, I'll try to be proactive. If I can't have the perks from the books without paying for the books again, maybe it would be possible to include a custom private perks section, where I can create my own perks and input the perks from the Player's Handbook. The same would go for archetypes. It shouldn't necessarily be something that can be shared, because then there could be legitimate copyright issues.
Other than that, if I get the master tier, am I allowed to use the books?
Well thanks for your help anyway. I know it's not your fault, but this is ridiculous.
It really isn't, but to each their own. The issue of paying for access to WoTC copyrighted material on DDB in all its iterations and instances has been debated to death already.
Buying a book from WOTC and then expecting Curse to give you free access to the content on Beyond is like buying a novel in a bookshop and expecting Amazon to give you the ebook. Sure, it has the same content, but you're buying a different product from a different company.
Curse needs to be paid for their work digitizing the content and building tools around it, and they need to pay WOTC for licensing it to them.
And that's like justifying a remastered Skyrim with paid mods. Curse couldn't have done any of this without WOTC approval and WOTC is making another heap of profit on the same content presented in a different way. This program to Curse is no different than a book to a book publisher. Curse/a book publisher is only a middle man to WOTC. I get that some people are okay with a "remastered" Skyrim, just as some people are okay with this system, but I bought my two books from Wizards, and in the end, it's Wizards that I'd be buying them from again.
Just a btw, I have my opinion, and you all have yours. I'm not asking them to give me the books for free. I told them that I disagreed with their decision, and then I dropped it, so please just leave me alone.

D&D Beyond can be used for free and contains information from the following "free to use" sources published by Wizards of the Coast: D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules and Elemental Evil Companion.
Content from other sources, such as the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide or Monster Manual will need to be purchased from the Marketplace, or accessed via another user sharing content with you via their Master Tier Subscription.

You can go to level 2 and beyond using free content.
If you find some value in this application, you can think of invest in it.

The Master Tier allows you to enable the sharing of purchased content with other players. It does not give you access to the digital books.

Guys, I'm locking this thread, as this conversation is done.
Thank you all for your feedback. :)
