We are currently playing Dungeons of Drakkenhiem with ONLY 2024 rules, and a player that is a Psi Warrior Fighter with Magic Initiate Wizard and they got a magic shield which grants counterspell.
When attuned it says the Con Save of the new Counterspell is 11 which means it is not adding their Int mod, guessing because Psi Warrior unlike Eldritch Knight is not ACTUALLY casting spells? Even though they have the mod added to the DCs of any spells that are cast via the origin feats or other means.
I would like to make a feat / or modify the shield that allows the "correct" DC
Pretty sure this should be the way it would be intended if the "Dudes" remade the items with 2024 rules.
Any thoughts one how to only change the DC for counterspell and not for everything.
Guessing the easiest way would be to add the spell casting class feature
I'm not sure the Magic Initiate feat or racial casting give you a general casting modifier since they aren't a spellcasting class feature. They only state they grant it for the sake of those particular spells. That said, if you want your player to have it, I'd either look at making a homebrew copy of the item or just telling them to use the Magic Initiate DC when they're declaring the DC.

Is the item a homebrew thing or something from Drakkenheim?
I ask because official items that allow non-spellcasters to cast spells typically have a fixed save DC rather than using any of the character's stats.
pronouns: he/she/they
Is from Drakkenhiem
That is what I am asking? HOW do you make a homebrew version of the spellcasting class feature.
I don't think you do. Homebrew the item, not the feature.
Unfortunate
