It may not be an actual bug and just a rule I was not aware of, but the feat speel sniper is not taking into account the overall level of the player since the spell i took (Eldritch Blast as i am a sorcerer) is still marked as only doing 1d12 at level 5 compared to a Fire Bolt who us doing 2d10. Again it may just be a rule i didn't know about.
Which makes sense, read the description of Eldritch Blast. Eldritch Blast makes two different attacks at level 5, each doing 1d12 damage. Fire Bolt only makes one attack regardless of level, but the damage of the spell increases. The reason for this is to scale Eldritch Blast damage with Hex and to give the Warlock more to do with their invocations.
Not so much a “rule” as the spells description literally states why this is the case in the description itself.

Thank you for confirming I am a total idiot
