I'm wondering if it's something dumb I'm missing, but when making a new ranger it states perception as a possible option for the initial skill proficiencies, but it doesn't appear in the drop-down.
If you already have proficiency in Perception from any other source, that skill will disappear from your class list so you don't accidentally pick it twice. Common reasons you might already have proficiency in Perception: You're playing an elf (or you're playing a different race that gives you a skill of your choice and you picked Perception (i.e. Warforged, Half-Elf, etc.)), or your chosen background grants proficiency in Perception.
Hi all,
I'm wondering if it's something dumb I'm missing, but when making a new ranger it states perception as a possible option for the initial skill proficiencies, but it doesn't appear in the drop-down.
Ranger Proficiency
Is it just me or is there something basic I'm missing?
Thanks in advance!

Perception is indeed a Ranger Class skill, so link your character sheet from DND Beyond so we can take a look at that.
