My Dragonborn Paladin with a Folk Hero background is getting his proficiency bonus added to the skills I chose for him to be proficient in when I selected his class, but it is not adding the proficiency bonus to the total bonus for the skill proficiencies he gained from choosing the Folk Hero background (animal handling, survival). The skills he gained proficiency with from his background are marked on his character sheet as being proficient.
