Hello, I'm pretty new to d&d and just started 5e. I have the phb and wanted to be a forest gnome but can't find any option other than deep and rock. How can I fix this, I just want to talk to animals.
When you say you own the PHB do you mean IRL or on DNDBeyond - because having the book doesn't give you any access to it digitally. You need to either own the full PHB - or just the subrace (which you can buy piecemeal) - on DNDBeyond.
If you don't want to pay any extra money you can use the Homebrew tools to make a version of the Forest Gnome for yourself for free with a the info from the physical book.
