Hello, I'm trying to make an update to my homebrew magic items with a link to a list of my other homebrew magic items on DnD Beyond. The only issue is that I am receiving an error saying that my text includes external links. This is incorrect; the text includes internal links to other pages on DnD Beyond, but no external links. How can I address this error?
D&D Beyond classes 'external' links as any link that uses the standard url format (ie www. etc). 'Internal' links are ones generated automatically by the site such as magic missile
Well that's not what external link means, but... ok. Is there any way for one of my homebrew magic items to point back to a list of my other homebrew magic items?
It's one usage of external link, to mean a link generated externally of the sites own coding. Either way, you can't link put external links in homebrew, even to other homebrew, if you wish to publish it. You can however use it without publishing it and the links will still work.
No, I've made websites for a living. An external link is a link that points to a different domain, as opposed to an internal link which points to a different page on the same domain.
Anyway, what I'm trying to do is somehow tie all of my homebrew together so that someone who stumbles on one magic item could find others that are made by me. In fact, several of my pieces of homebrew equipment require another homebrew item in order to operate. Is there some kind of solution that I'm not thinking of?
I know this is an old thread, but I recommend adding a comment after publishing.
I've used comments myself to give info *about* the items that don't really belong in the item description, including CC attributions (which, really, should be a canonical part of the item if appropriate).
PS - I'm a software engineer and I *also* find the use of the term "external link" when pointing to the same domain very confusing. It would be more helpful if it just said "link".
