Hi, I'm having an issue with the encounter builder. I searched around on the forums and a lot of people have had similar issues, but none of their issues were exactly like mine and none of the solutions proposed in those threads worked for me. I created a homebrew version of the Minotaur, modified to use some homebrew boss mechanics I found on Reddit. I made the homebrew monster from a copy of the minotaur monster, and then made the adjustments I wanted, and renamed it to Minotaur (Boss). When I went to load it into the encounter builder, the only homebrew monster listed is COPY_OF_Minotaur, which was the original name of the monster, but when I click on it, it links to a missing website page rather than the monster as it exists now or the monster as it existed when it had that name.
After I first discovered this issue, I waited. I had just finished the monster and a forum post said that it can take a few minutes for the encounter builder to display new monsters. After waiting, nothing had changed. I tried removing it from my collection and then re-adding it, which had no effect. I double checked the status of the homebrew monster against what the forum posts said was required for it to show up, and there were no discrepancies. I then decided to remove the monster from my collection, wait a few hours to make sure the website had time to make the change, then re-added it to my collection, waited another few hours to make sure the website had time to make that change, and then checked back. Still no change. No matter what I do, COPY_OF_Minotaur, a monster that doesn't exist in my collection or my creations, is displayed, linking to a missing details page, rather than Minotaur (Boss), which exists in both my collection and my creations, and would presumably link to the details page I can access elsewhere in the site.
Please let me know if any of you have any suggestions on how to fix this! I'm hoping to use this monster in the combat tracker for a session this weekend, but I can't do that if I can't select it in the encounter builder. Since people asked for this in the other threads I read, here is the link to the details page for the homebrew monster: https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/1476906-minotaur-boss
To anyone reading this post in the future, I found a solution to this issue, but it's a bit annoying. I copied the Minotaur again and made manual changes to the features to fit the original Minotaur (Boss). The only difference between the process of doing this the first time and the second time was that the first time, I copied some of the text from a Reddit thread on homebrew boss mechanics, so either that caused the issue, or the original issue was the result of a random error completely out of my control. COPY_OF_Minotaur still appears in my encounter builder despite the fact that Minotaur (Boss) has been removed from my collection. I'm going to put in a support ticket to have the monster unpublished and deleted to prevent the monster from causing anyone else the issues I've had. Even though the issue technically persists, it really only bothered me insofar as I couldn't use the monster in the encounter builder. Now that I can use the new version, I don't really mind the extra entry in my encounter builder.
