I need help deciding and organizing the feats for my Custom Lineage Battle Smith 3/ Eldritch Knight 17 build (is that a good level split?) Here is what i have so far and why:
IMO you have some stuff that is kind of redundant:
Mobile isn't really needed if you use disengage with your mount Mobile also isnt needed If you are mounted and use a lance with a 10ft reach. (Eld knight weapon bond is actually useful for swaping in/out lances) Booming blade isn't that great vs the 3x attacks you get from fighter. Even with war magic when you already have other options for bonus action attacks
I dont think need warcaster for a shield focus as long as you use 1 infusioin on gear you are wearing. (it's still good with PaM for booming blades)
Mounted combat and sentinel: forcing them to attack the rider makes it so you dont get the reaction attack from sentinel. If you don't need to dash or disengage the defender can dodge so you actually kind of want it to be attacked, especially when you consider how many hit points it can tank for the cost of 1 spell slot or free cantrips. Your mount is medium so it's not going to give advantage on much. (you could take phantom steed to and use it when it would give you advantage on everything)
Pole arm master amazing idk if its worth not using a lance while mounted. Especially when you are going to be using bonus actions to move hex and using reactions for shield/absorb elements can have a massive impact.
Id at very least get rid of mobile If you keep mounted combatant, I'd consider taking ritual caster so you can cast phantom steed when ever you want. Riding around with advantage stabbing with a d12 weapon + hex and action surging is pretty nasty
(One thing to keep in mind is that Steel defenders don't have a lot of strength and if you DM cares about weight you wont be able to carry much more than what you are wearing unless you have a bag of holding. but you can just make one if you need to)
You’ve made some very interesting points, especially with the carrying weight. I’m really not sure how to determine the optimal weight or height for a character. I’ll look i to Ritual Casting for the Phantom Steed too.
The only thing I’m not sure about is not using war caster when i thought Eldritch Knights and Artificers need their own spellcasting items (a component pouch and an infused item or toolset respectfully.) Can you or anyone else confirm whether or bot that is the case?
A big swizzle to this is that you will have to be Small to use your Steel Defender as a mount. The rules for mounts say that the creature must be at least one size larger than you (https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/phb/combat#MountedCombat).
If you are Small, you have disadvantage to use Heavy weapons (Lance, Glaive, and Halberd are all heavy), so you would have to use PAM with a Quarterstaff or Spear. That is going to take away your reach, and not make Sentinel nearly as worthwhile.

Lance is actually not a heavy weapon. It's also not a pole arm

"After you gain the Infuse Item feature at 2nd level, you can also use any item bearing one of your infusions as a spellcasting focus."
This should work for all spells since other featrues have specific language of "for you *class* spells" when that is the intent.
Ex "You can use any weapon you summon with your Pact of the Blade feature as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells."

Ok good to know. Thanks!
Currently I am using a Pike, but i just did Fey Touched, Int +2, War caster, Tough, Con +2 Con +2 and Con +2.

Oh. Wait. I thought that WAS how it was.

Yeah, so you would have disadvantge on all attackes with a pike if your'e small or not be able to mount a steel defender if you're medium.
I really think you should reconsider your feats and not just do a bunch of HP. Imo the whole reason to play a fighter at high level is to make a fun play style with feats.

Fair enough. I suppose i just need to decide what those are. Guess I’m back to square one.
i know i want to start with a half feat in Charisma and then a +2 in the same thing followed by War Caster. After that though, I’m bot sure which feats do or don’t go well together at this point. Not sure which weapon to use either.

That’s what I thought. Thank you!
