100% agree with crzyhawk. Personally I would also be looking at shield master, but I'll admit I have a bit of a thing for that feat. And yes, it does work with claws since they don't specify needing both hands open to make the extra attack. 3 attacks + shield shove is awesome.
I'd either find a good use for your bonus action or just boost strength. The grappling feats are bad and you're good enough at it already just by virtue of high strength, proficiency and rage advantage.
Does grappling and shield shove work together? This is an honest question because I'm generally not interested in either, just curious how it works.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Yes, but you'll break the grapple if you choose to shove them away instead of knocking them prone. Pretty sure Tail form is the first class to be able to go grapple-attack-shove thanks to having a weapon, free hand, and shield all at once.
I'd take Slasher or Piercer over Fighting Initiate. They actually provide full benefit for your natural weapon attack and any weapon you might use when not raging. And they bump up your strength or dex.
I'm kind of attached to the variant human for RP purposes now, but if I went away from fighting initiate what about the slasher feat instead? My claw attacks could get the benefit as would dualing handaxes outside of raging?
Yes you would, although I personally think that the benefit from slasher is pretty niche. A lot of folks really like those feats, but I am not a fan at all.
If I were building your character, I'd probably still go with fighting initiate, and take the defensive fighting style. I might also consider something such as durable.

It is niche, I just find it to be better for this build than going with Fighting Initiate and picking up Dualist or TWF because it's at least something that applies equally to raging and non-raging attacks. I probably wouldn't bother with Fighting Initiate to get Defensive style, either, since that only applies when you're wearing armor and barbarians often don't. And I'm rather dubious of the value of spending an ASI just to get +1 AC. As a barbarian, buffing your dex or con gets the same bonus and adds additional benefits.
