One of my players is playing a life domain cleric but after getting raise dead at 5th level he is very interested in raising the dead. We have already looked in to the domain of death and he was not interested in doing extra damage or anything, just creating zombies. His god has been secret until last session where the god revealed that it was a demigod of life and death. I was thinking a home-brewed combination of the life domain and the school of necromancy for wizard's but don't trust my self to make it, any help would be great.

It sounds like this player just needs to memorize the Animate Dead spell. Not sure what else you are looking for if the player did not express interest in Death Domain features. Create Undead is another option for making undead from 6th level spell slots.
This sounds like the grave domain cleric to me. Life and death is literally in the first line of the description. Great support character that fits what he wants thematically. Raising undead is available to all clerics but having a life cleric do it might feel awkward. A Grave domain clerics doing that seems much more appropriate to me. And it sounds awesome!

Oh wow thanks did not know that existed:) I'll check it out.

Your player can still create undead as a Life Domain cleric as long as his deity is okay with it. If there is any conflict, that's an RP issue, not an issue with mechanics or power levels.
RE: Grave Domain. To get there, this player would need to roll up a new character. Multi-classing only works with a different class. IOW, you can't get two or three domains of Cleric for one character.
Also, just remembered that the Grave Domain is explicitly against undead. So the RP issues, if you care about that at your table, still stand.
From a roleplay perspective, depending on how your player goes about their fascination with raising the dead, there are questions of ethics at play their character may have to explore, how the NPCs in your campaign feel about this you need to explore, and what their goals are from here on out, especially starting as a Life Domain and turning to a "Necromancy Domain." Fun twist though that your player's perception of "Life" is raising zombies and skeletons.
It is possible to make it as simple as replacing their Domain features with the School of Necromancy features. The Necromancer features do not rely upon being a wizard per se, but on being able to cast necromancy spells and controlling undead. Necromancy Savant gets replaced with a custom Necromancy Domain Spells list, which would likely include gentle repose, animate dead, raise dead and create undead at appropriate levels. This would also replace the first sentence of Undead Thralls. Wizard features gained at 2nd, 6th, 10th, and 14th would be gained a 1st-2nd, 6th, 8th, and 17th respectively.
That being said, I don't agree with this approach. You want the various features to be unique to their respective classes, this is just if you don't want to put much work into it.
Ask your player if the specific concern is "raising" zombies or "controlling" zombies. If it is the latter, then all you have to do is change the Turn/Destroy Undead feature into a Rebuke/Control Undead feature. This used to be the case for evil clerics and paladins in 3rd edition but seems to have become taboo for your typical characters since 4e. So this way when your player uses Channel Divinity to rebuke, instead of being frightened the undead become dazed/stunned, and instead of destroyed they become charmed or full-on control like animate dead.
Grave domain cleric's goals are to destroy undead and protect the balance, I don't see why you would join grave domain, you could just be still a life domain cleric, but see raising dead as giving them life. This would work without having to roll a new character and make sense RP wise.
