Why not just be a changeling and cast Darkvision as a Shadow monk? It only costs 2 Ki and lasts 8 hours. You can cast it after a short rest and get back to full Ki.

Also true. Eight hours is a long time and normally leaves you time for a short rest in between.
Remember that it only takes 30 minutes of meditation to recover the totality of your ki points. If at all , there are also the Goggles of Night.
