This is probably a basic question, but in the new 2024 rules, can a monk use a monk weapon with their "flurry of blows" feature? For example, if my monk wields a +1 dagger in each hand, can they spend a focus point for additional "flurry" attacks with their dagger?
If the answer is yes, the follow-up question is: can a monk make ranged thrown weapon attacks with either "flurry of blows" or just regular thrown weapon attacks using their monk damage die?
In short, would a monk be at all effective with thrown weapons, such as daggers or shuriken?

Flurry of Blows. You can expend 1 Focus Point to make two Unarmed Strikes as a Bonus Action.
Instead of using a weapon to make a melee attack, you can use a punch, kick, head-butt, or similar forceful blow. In game terms, this is an Unarmed Strike—a melee attack that involves you using your body to damage, grapple, or shove a target within 5 feet of you.
In case you missed the above text from the PHB. So your question answered is no. But that doesn’t mean you couldn’t use gloves of soul catching, with your unarmed strikes.
Just to show the item description:
Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement)
Your Constitution score is 20 while you wear these gloves. This property of the gloves has no effect on you if your Constitution is already 20 or higher.
After making a successful unarmed strike while wearing these gloves, you can use the gloves to deal an extra 2d10 force damage to the target, and you regain a number of hit points equal to the force damage dealt. Alternatively, instead of regaining hit points in this way, you can choose to gain advantage on one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw you make before the end of your next turn.
Humm, I thought monk weapons could be used to replace (or with) unarmed attacks. But I guess this is not the case. Thanks.
Correct. Monk weapons are actual weapons which is different than an unarmed strike.
What you might be thinking of is that monk weapons can use the Martial Arts die for damage? So monk weapon damage can use your unarmed strike damage but not the other way around (your dagger would do 1d6 and scale up with monk levels)
Edit: you can mix and match unarmed strikes and monk weapon attacks as part of the Attack action, once you get extra attack, if you want. But Flurry of Blows and the Martial Arts bonus action attack must be unarmed strikes
